Every day, behind correctional walls across Nigeria, countless incarcerated and vulnerable individuals face deep emotional wounds, spiritual emptiness, and painful isolation. Many have lost not only their freedom but their sense of self, their dignity, and their belief that life can still hold meaning.
Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organisation (CAPIO), we believe that every person, no matter their past, is worthy of healing and a second chance.
That’s why Hope & Restoration is at the heart of everything we do.
We walk with incarcerated men and women not just through legal support or medical aid but through the quiet, often unseen work of restoring hearts and rebuilding hope. Through faith-based counselling, trauma healing, emotional support, and community reintegration, we help people rediscover their identity, reconnect with loved ones, and believe again in a future beyond the bars.
Through our CAPIO Centre of Hope, we continue this journey of healing even after their release. Here, former inmates and other vulnerable individuals find a safe place to heal, grow, and rebuild. They are not treated as castaways — they are welcomed with open arms, guided with care, and given the tools to thrive again.
